Biography
Born in Saint John, New Brunswick, Canada, in 1972, Troy Parfitt graduated from the University of New Brunswick with a major in American history and a minor in Canadian political science. He became certified as an ESL instructor and lived for nearly two years in Seoul, South Korea and for more than ten in Taipei, Taiwan.
In 2007, his first book, Notes from the Other China (New York: Algora Publishing) hit the market. In 2009, he returned to his hometown of Saint John, and in 2011, his second book, Why China Will Never Rule the World, was published by Western Hemisphere Press.
Troy is not married and has no children. When not writing, he enjoys reading (naturally), walking, travelling, and spectator sports such as hockey and soccer. Some of Troy’s favourite authors are Paul Theroux, Mordecai Richler, Bill Bryson, George Orwell, Kurt Vonnegut, Graham Greene, John Steinbeck, Mark Twain, Jan Morris, Robertson Davies, Jonathan Raban, and Gore Vidal.
